Wordpress without any plugins is kinda useless. Best to completely avoid using it, there are better options

Saw this in a HN comment and loved it. Also, a little worrying.

Feels like a manager with no branding skills had an initial “vision” and everyone working there probably hoped marketing/branding would get pulled in later.

Never happened.

Hahaha. Chip butty

Extra vinegar please, I want my muffin drenched.

Yes. The North West and the midlands was where it all started. Cotton, mills, Industrial Revolution etc

Interesting. Did not know that. I thought someone bought the IBM laptop business and renamed it.

It was bought, but after the renaming. Today IBM only build Servers. Mainframes. All other PC, Laptop and Server Production/Branding is sold. IBM rebranded mainly to IBM iX. A full service agency. Hardware is now Mainframes. And other deviations are mostly Cloud, OpenShift, Ansible, and RHEL.

They did, but they also were a large existing manufacturer.

I don't know what they had before but their identity seemed to be IBM's overnight (thinkpads and all).

They used the Think(Pad|Centre) brand and expanded it to other things (like IdeaPad).

They basically bought IBM's good reputation name and style and used it for both IBM-alikes and budget machines.

Some of it was good machines, some of it was crap.

They actually bought entire ThinkPad R&D as well, and have been subcontracted manufacturer for some time before that.

So Thinkpads are still designed in ex-IBM Lenovo Japan

Is this from the same person that did Castle Map a few weeks ago? Feels similar

Yes! I have created some interactive maps which are in some ways similar to each other.

I like to have some sort of standardised UI to make the map as useful as possible. If I like features from one of my maps, I will copy that to the other maps wherever it fits. I hope this works:)

Hmm, but can you cross reference? Plenty of castles have been filming locations :)

And the Open Weight models keep improving.

For many tasks, you don’t need a frontier model.

Yes! This is my pet hate. Third world does not mean poor. Switzerland is third world as it was aligned to neither bloc.

Totally agree. It does break the rules, but it feels so much faster than defining class names.

On simple projects I usually @apply tailwind styles to standard elements like headings, block quote, aside, nav etc. Then just use semantic html.

Looks good and takes so little effort.
